Attention 8th Graders! NYS Exams are required for you this year... You will take the following assessments: ***** NEW ***** Click on the test name to go directly to the NYS page with sample tests!!!!!!!!!!! | ELA | Given in May | A two-day test that will require you to read, listen, think and then write. Plenty of practice activities will take place over the next few months to prepare us for the exam. | | Math | Given in May | A two day test that will ask you to answer multiple choice and extended response questions. We will complete plenty of practice problems in class ... be sure to stay after for extra help and do corrections when they are offered! | | Science | Given in May | This test also has two parts: 1. Practical (Hands -On) you will perform a series of tasks using lab equipment. 2. Written - on this portion are multiple choice and constructed response questions. | | Social Studies | Given in June | This two day test will contain multiple choice questions, constructed response questions, and a DBQ essay response question. We will practice each of these question types repeatedly throughout the school year. | | Foreign Language Proficiency | Given during exam week | PLENTY of practice activities will take place throughout the year! Passing this exam earns you high school credit! | Some hints for doing well on these assessments .... WORK HARD ALL YEAR!!!!! (You will learn more over the year, rather than trying to cram it all in at the last minute!) Get a good night's sleep Eat a good breakfast Sharpen your pencils the night before! Try your best!
