Working on Rain Barrel
  • The 5th Grade Rain Barrel Task Force learned how to recycle rain water and prevent stormwater pollution through making their very own rain barrel.  The rain barrel will be installed on the Alden Intermediate School playground.  A big thank you goes out to the Erie County Department of Environment & Planning for providing us with the barrel and resources!

All the grades collected plastic bags for the month of January 2018.  We collected over 3,700 plastic bags (which will be put to good use and kept out of our waters)!  After learning about plastics pollution, our students brainstormed how they could reduce, reuse and recycle their plastic bags and designed art projects to use all the bags we collected.  Please check out the photo galleries below to see all the amazing art our students created.  A huge thank you goes out to Miss Devine and Grandma A for all their amazing time, energy and help with this massive endeavor!  And to Andrew Goldstein (Erie County Recycling Coordinator) for his help in making this possible!
