    Grades:

Tests and quizzes count heavily on your average. My job is not to trick you but to assess whether or not you understand the material taught.  Therefore, everything discussed in class is fair game for a quiz or test.  Tests are given at the completion of a literary work or unit of study.  I give numerous quizzes.  If you are present, attentive in class, and completing your homework, you will do very well on quizzes.

    Homework:

Homework is a substantial part of your grade.  I DO NOT ACCEPT LATE WORK.  The reason for this strict policy is because I am preparing you for professional and scholarly obligations where you will have to plan ahead. Any homework assignment that is not done at the beginning of the block is a zero.  If you are absent on the day an assignment is due, you may hand the assignment in the day you return without penalty.  I update my grades regularly.  It is your responsibility to check the portal frequently to follow your academic progress.

    Late Policy:

Don’t be late!!!  You have five minutes passing time between blocks.  Five minutes is ample time to go to your locker, lavatory, etc.  If you are late to my class I will write a referral.  When the bell rings, you should be seated and ready to work.  At the end of the block, all students will remain in their seats until the bell rings.

Like any relationship, communication is the key to success.  I feel that I am approachable and understanding.  If you are having a problem outside of class or in class, please don’t hesitate to talk to me.  I can’t help you if I don’t know what’s going on.

Respect yourself, respect others (including me), and respect the school.
