Physical Setting: Chemistry
Physical Science, 1.25 Credit
Prerequisite: Algebra, Geometry, Living Environment. Desired: strong math and science skills.
Chemistry is the study of the composition of matter and the changes that matter undergoes. This study includes units on atomic structure, chemical bonding, physical states of matter, chemical reactions, energy changes in reactions, nuclear chemistry, electrochemistry, acids and bases and organic chemistry. Mathematical relationships are emphasized in balancing equations and solving problems. Lab experimentation is important in learning chemistry. The reasoning ability acquired in Math and experiences in lab in the other science courses is important for success in Chemistry.
