* Explore and understand units used to find perimeter and area of figures and analyze the relationship between them.
Vocabulary:
area - Area is the number of square units it takes to cover the surface of each figure without overlapping.
square units - Square units are units such as square centimeters, square inches, square foot, and square meter that are used to measure area.
square centimeter (cm²) - Square centimeter is a metric unit of measurement for smaller area.
square inch (in.²) - Square inch is a standard or customary unit of measurement for small area.
square meter (m²) - Square meter is a metric unit of measure for large area.
square foot (ft²) - Square foot is a standard or customary unit of measure for large area.
perimeter - Perimeter is the distance around a figure. Perimeter can be measured in linear units such as centimeters, inches, meters and feet.
