Chapter Objective:
* The volume of cubes and rectangular prisms can be expressed as the number of cubic units they contain. The surface area of a solid is the sum of the areas of all its faces.
Vocabulary:
Unit cube  A cube whose edges are each 1 unit long.
Face  A flat surface on a solid figure.
Edge  The line segment where two faces of a solid figure meet. The line segment formed by the intersection of two faces.
Rectangular prism  A prism with six rectangular faces.
Prism  A solid figure with two parallel congruent faces joined by rectangular faces.
Base (of a solid figure)  A special face of a solid figure.
Vertex (of a solid figure)  The point where three or more edges meet.
Net  A plane figure that can be folded to make a solid figure.
Square pyramid  A pyramid that has a square base.
Triangular pyramid  A pyramid that has a triangular base.
