    Home Study Art

(Officially Starts on March 23, 2020)

Each week, the Alden Intermediate School and the Alden Primary School will be posting my Art Home Study packets and activities to their Home Study Page.  There will be one packet for Grades K-2 and one packet for Grades 3-5.  Please e-mail me at with any questions you may have or to share photos of your child's artworks (I'd love to see what they are creating while we are apart!).

In addition, I just started an Instagram page: mrs.comettosart It would be awesome if you would follow me, as I am lots of new ideas and activities there.  Thanks!

Visit the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and Burchfield-Penney Art Center

At the very end of May, Alden Intermediate School 5th grade students had the amazing opportunity to visit two world-renowned art museums, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and the Burchfield-Penney Art Center. This fabulous trip was a culmination to the students’ elementary art program and was made possible through grants provided by both museums.

The students received guided tours of both museums and were able to see and discuss many of the artworks that they have learned about in school as well as view new favorites. Elementary art teacher, Sara Cometto, was very excited about this extraordinary opportunity for her students because nothing compares to seeing the real artworks, up close and personal! Many students were stunned and amazed by the size, texture, colors, and details of the artworks.

Fifth grade student, Matthew W., said “The field trips was great because I got to see artworks not only from long ago, but from today and by artists working right here in Western New York!” Adam F. stated, “It was better than what I thought it would be because I thought I would only see the same similar paintings but they were all different and amazing. They amazed me because you think you’d see one level of beauty and talent but instead it was just so spectacular and beautiful.”
