Exploring Colleges/ College Research Project

  • How to approach finding information on colleges...

    If you have colleges in mind...

    1. Go to each school's website and explore its pages and links.
    2. Browse through the college handbooks (Princeton Review's The Complete Book of Colleges 2021) - each of them list schools alphabetically;  Ask Mrs. Sobol for help using these books as there are different ways to use/search them (and some of the SUNY schools can be difficult to find).
    3. Look each school up on College Board's Bigfuture.org site and click on Find Colleges.

    If you do not have any idea where you want to go to college...

    1. First, find schools that offer the major or majors that you are interested in; browse through the college  majors handbooks to find schools - these books list majors alphabetically with corresponding schools; once you find schools that offer your major(s) then look those schools up alphabetically in the college handbooks or.... 

    2. Search College Board's Bigfuture.org site and click on Explore Careers - - College Majors; enter the major under Want to Explore College Majors? Once you find your major, you can click on Which Colleges Offer a Major In...;  You can filter by lots of criteria including location, cost, size, etc. 

    3. Once you have some schools in mind, search each school's website and explore its pages and links.
