All About ME! - Mrs. Kolarich
I am beginning my twenty-fifth year here in Alden. I started at the Primary School in 1998 as a kindergarten teacher, then up to first grade in 1999, then onto second grade for several years. I made a brief change back to grade 1 for a few years, then back to grade 2 UNTIL the 2018-2019 school year. I am very pleased to now be part of the Intermediate School family and am so pleased to be in my fifth year as a fifth grade teacher.
Before I got here...
I have always lived in New York State (Utica, Syracuse, and Western New York). I love the four seasons and couldn't imagine life without the beauty of each.
I went to Canisius College for my undergraduate (Elementary Education/Mathematics) and graduate (Reading) degrees. I was then fortunate to get hired soon out of college at Ss. Peter and Paul in Williamsville. I spent three years there teaching pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and first grade before coming to Alden.
My parents reside in North Carolina and I have one sister who has passed (and three amazing nieces as well as one remarkable great niece also all in NC). I was married in July (2009) to Steve. I was previously known as Miss Rooney. Together, we welcomed our son Jack to the family in July (2010). He is in seventh grade this year and is an Alden Bulldog. We all reside in Lancaster with our cat Big Mac.
Please know that I feel teaching is one of the most important careers a person could have. I understand the responsibility of what I do, helping shape each child who passes through my door. I recognize the challenges we all face at this time and promise to do everything I can to make sure your child feels safe.
I love being a teacher within the Alden Community. I look forward to the opportunity to get to know and work with YOU!!
